Grand Challenge in Dialysis Access Synergy 2020

 

We are inviting presentations in these two themes :
1.  Salvage of difficult failing or thrombosed HD access
2.  Manage and resolve terrible complications of HD access

All submissions are assured of the opportunity of a podium presentation.

A certificate of appreciation will be given to all participants of the competition.

 

The two themes are:

1. Salvage of difficult failing or thrombosed HD access

 

  • Describe a case of failing or thrombosed HD access.

  • Explain possible reasons for access failure.

  • Explain the specific challenges encountered for salvage of the access.

  • Methods and techniques to salvage of difficult failing or thrombosed HD access.

  • Outcome of access salvage.

 

Each participant has 9 minutes presentation time and 3 minutes Q&A time. The judge panel will provide 2 minutes feedback towards the end. The first stage of the competition will be held on 13 March 2010.

 

The 2 highest score participants will make the presentation again in the main conference, held on 14 March 2019, to compete for the final Champion. Marks will be given by the judge panel and conference delegates through real-time voting.

 

The champion will receive a traveling scholar sponsorship of USD 730 to support the traveling expenses of visiting one of the faculty members' institutions (the champion’s choice). The first runner up will receive a traveling scholar sponsorship of USD 450. 

2. Manage and resolve terrible complications of HD access

  • Describe the complication encountered and its severity.

 

  • Explain the challenge of management for that specific complication.

 

  • Illustrate the specific strategy, technique and tips & tricks of resolving the mentioned complication.

  • May add on how to prevent similar complication to happen in the future.
